White & Associates attorneys represent husbands and wives in domestic abuse claims. We can represent you if you are being abused, or if you are wrongfully being accused of domestic abuse. We have extensive experience handling domestic abuse claims in Minnesota family law courts.
Our family law attorneys understand the issues involved in a domestic abuse case, including allegations of spousal abuse or child abuse. Minnesota family law courts can issue several orders to assist victims of abuse, including the following:
- Order for Protection (OFP) - sometimes referred to as a Protective Order. An OFP is a restraining order that limits or prohibits contact with the abused victim and/or children.
- Restraining Order - including a Temporary Restraining Order or TRO. A TRO can be issued to limit or prohibit contact until a full hearing can be held to determine if the order should be made permanent.
- Harassment Order - sometimes called a Harassment Restraining Order or HRO. A harassment order can be issued against anyone or any entity that harasses you; and does not necessarily need to be your ex-spouse.
- Child Custody Modifications - In addition to restraining orders or orders for protection, the courts can also order changes to child custody to protect a child from domestic abuse.
